| Description | When most people think of a desert they envision a sea of sand. In Qatar, different areas have different characteristics. We invite you to a tour of the western part of Qatar to experience the amazing terrain of the stony desert. Will take a drive towards Zekreet village and enter a desert with foothills and ridges, once in the desert will shortly see the famous Desert Sculpture by Richard Serra (EAST-WEST / WEST-EAST) – four massive metallic plates more than 14 meters in height spread over a kilometer. Our 4×4 vehicles will stop for a tour of film city, a contemporary recreation of an Arabic fortified village in the middle of the desert and one of the many scenic destinations in Qatar. The deserted Zekreet peninsula is full of remnants of old settlements and prehistoric sites, so the next stop is the ghost village – which in popular belief houses the djinn (genies). You will get a chance to see overhung stony ridges shadowing at 30 meters over the sand and how the sea meets the boulders of the desert. |
